New Stu Hamm Bass Lessons Just Added!
Greetings bass players! We are excited to announce the addition of 5 brand new lessons to the curriculum. Stu was in the ArtistWorks studios a few months back and banked a bunch of great new lessons for you here at ArtistWorks. Included in the lessons just added, Stu gets into minor blues pentatonics in multiple keys, an extended pentatonic exercise that incorporates different rhythms as a way to practice, and a lesson teaching the 6/8 groove rhythm parts to the song "Flotsam & Jetsam" from Stu's HOLD FAST album. Each lesson has accompanying backing tracks and tablature with notation, so you can follow the notes and get these under your fingers. The track for Flotsam & Jetsam is the board mix from the actual album with the bass removed, so you can play along with the real band. Click any of the links below to navigate right to the lesson page, or you can find them in the Lessons tab in the Basic section. More new lessons are headed to the site soon so keep an eye out for updates. Enjoy!

The origins of the shuffle feel trace back to African musical traditions, where complex, syncopated rhythms were prevalent. These rhythms were brought to America by enslaved Africans and later evolved in the context of African-American music, significantly shaping the rhythmic foundation of early 20th-century blues and jazz, and eventually influencing a wide range of popular music styles.
