Alice Gerrard is regarded as Bluegrass royalty for her impressive career as a singer and songwriter, making up half of the iconic duo Hazel & Alice. Alice has been performing and recording since the mid 50s and began her professional recording career with the inaugural release of “Who’s That Knocking” as a part of Hazel & Alice in 1965. Since then Alice has continued to write and play music to this day. In this long-form interview, Michael Daves sits down with Alice to talk about all things Bluegrass. Alice shares stories, reminisces, and sings several tunes together with Michael. To view the interview, click any of the links listed below to go straight to that page, there is much more coming so check back each week for more new additions. You can also find the interview in the +Music section of the site.
In addition to the interview, Michael has taught the Hazel & Alice song, “Won’t You Come and Sing for Me?” for the Intermediate ciriculum! Michael has also included stem packs with charts in both low (C) and high (G) keys, so you can practice with the harmony part that you’d like to work on!
