We’re pleased to announce a new interview in the +Music / Special Guests section of the Lessons. Darol interviews fiddler, teacher, and songwriter Emerald Rae. Hailing from Gloucester, Massachusetts, Emerald Rae began her musical journey deep in the world of traditional Celtic music. She is an important member of the phenomenally influential group of fiddlers who have “graduated” out of the fiddling community of Alasdair Fraser. She has in the last fifteen years expanded both her performing and teaching powers as an extremely articulate, powerful, and funny presence. With her 2018 self-titled release, Rae expanded the boundaries of fiddle-singing with a wide palate of experimental techniques. With her powerhouse vocals, groovy percussive fiddle and eclectic songwriting style, she continues to delight audiences at legacy folk festivals, fiddle camps, and concert stages across North America.
